چکیده

The pipeline industry's existing and new safety challenges require flexible powerful techniques for performing a risk-based analysis of cross-country petroleum product systems. One the traditional tools prediction failure is Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) technique due to its ease application. However, many limitations have been identified in application especially pipelines developing countries. Firstly, data often either unavailable or unreliable, therefore identification risk priority numbers three factors ( i.e. probability failure, severity detection) relies on experts' elicitation. Secondly, domain experts provide diverse opinions knowledge, which could produce different assessment rankings it difficult harmonise multidisciplinary nature FMEA team. Thirdly, there lack systematic way accounting relative importance individual factors, carries results not representing true picture assessed system. Consequently, this paper proposes approach, called modified FMEA, by integrating noted benefits hybrid with Fuzzy Rule Base (FRB) Grey Relations Theory (GRT) order overcome drawbacks. study utilises both fuzzy grey theory include assign weighting each factor assessment. are then used determine rank modes under types conditions. Risk Based Maintenance of a Cross-country Petroleum Pipeline System

This paper proposes a data-driven approach in determining an optimal inspection interval for a petroleum pipeline system. The approach accounts for the determination of both the probability of failure and its associated consequences. The probability of failure is estimated by fitting the historical data of failure of the pipeline into either a homogenous Poisson process or non-homogenous Poisso...

Determining Occurrence in FMEA Using Hazard Function

FMEA has been used for several years and proved its efficiency for system’s risk analysis due to failures. Risk priority number found in FMEA is used to rank failure modes that may occur in a system. There are some guidelines in the literature to assign the values of FMEA components known as Severity, Occurrence and Detection. This paper propose a method to assign the value for occurrence in mo...

Fuzzy rule base reduction

This technical report summarises the use of SVD based reduction for applications using generalised rational form. Some practical formulas are also introduced for using piece-wise linear antecedent sets. Fuzzy algorithms form popular engineering tool to large complex systems. For large rule bases exceeding direct operation capacity an extended algorithm is proposed here as well. 1. INTRODUCTION ...

A Proposal for Fuzzy Rule Generation Using Temporal Reasoning

Knowledge acquisition is difficult, especially when the domain knowledge is not structured. In this paper a framework based on machine learning is proposed in order to generate a rule-base for signal analysis in the case of anesthesia monitoring. During surgery, clinical parameters are measured. From training samples, rules for a knowledge-based system can be learned that describe alarm situati...

Approximate Reasoning with Fuzzy Booleans

This paper introduces, in analogy to the concept of fuzzy numbers, the concept of fuzzy booleans, and examines approximate reasoning with the compositional rule of inference using fuzzy booleans. It is shown that each set of fuzzy rules is equivalent to a set of fuzzy rules with singleton crisp antecedents; in case of fuzzy booleans this set contains only two rules. It is shown that Zadeh's ext...
